What are pricing units?

For each order type, you can add one or more pricing units. They determine how the price is displayed. Examples include “per item”, "per hour", "per week" or "per ticket". The price is then displayed as "$20 per hour", for example.

If pricing units are in use, the buyer can select how many items they want to buy. For instance, in a service marketplace, they might purchase a service for 2 hours, and in a ticket marketplace, they might purchase 4 tickets at once.

You can also choose not to have any pricing units in an order type. In that case, a flat price without "per something" is displayed. Pricing units can (naturally) only be used if the price field has been enabled in the order type.

Pricing units are dependent on the order type, and you can have different pricing units for different order types.

What pricing units can I have?

You can have multiple pricing units in use for an order type that allows for a price. When a seller creates a listing, they need to choose one of them to be used for the listing.

You can have different pricing units for different order types.

There are five existing pricing units:

  • Per hour

  • Per day

  • Per night

  • Per week

  • Per month

In addition to these, you can create custom pricing units that are either based on

  • Quantity (per piece, per kg, per person, per 2-hour tour...) or

  • Time (per 30 minutes, per 2 weeks, per year...)

With the custom pricing units, you should be able to create any pricing unit you need.

How to add a pricing unit

To add a new pricing unit, you should:

  • log in your marketplace as an administrator,

  • go to your Admin panel,

  • open the "Listings / Order types" page,

  • edit the order type by clicking the pencil icon,

  • move to the section “Pricing units”,

  • select the pricing units you wish to add for the order type. You can also create custom pricing units,

  • save.

The pricing units “per day” and “per night”

If you use the existing pricing units “per day” or “per night,”. The user will see a calendar and can book a selection of days. This calendar is not the same as the availability management calendar that can block dates that are booked.

If you want to use “per day” or “per night” pricing units but not a calendar, you need to create custom pricing units.

Creating custom pricing units

You can create custom pricing units. These are either quantity or time-based. When you create a new pricing unit, you need to fill out some information.

The “Label” shows next to the price on a listing, the words “per” will automatically be displayed. In addition to this, you add a label, for example: “item”, “tour”, “meter”. Add these without quotation marks (“”).

The label will be shown next to the price on the listing:

Selector label is displayed next to the field where the user selects how many of the listing they are purchasing:

NOTE: once you have created a pricing unit, you cannot edit it!

How to make users purchase only one item per listing

If you wish only to offer one item per listing, you will have to disable all pricing units, inclusive custom pricing units. This means no pricing unit will show next to the price.

How to let users purchase multiple items per listing

By creating pricing units, buyers can automatically select multiple of your offering. The seller needs to keep track of how many they have sold as, at this time, we do not offer a stock function.

How to change pricing unit for an existing listing

  • Open the listing,

  • Click “edit listing”,

  • At “Price” click the dropdown menu next to the price, choose pricing unit,

  • Click “Save”.

FAQ about pricing units

Can I display only the price, no pricing unit?

Yes, you can have this. To do this, you need to deselect all pricing units and delete any custom pricing units for the order type in question. If you do, this only one unit can be bought. If you need the user to pay for multiple units of the same listings, an order type needs to be used.

Can I have free listings/listings without a price?

Yes, you can. You can create an order type for free listings. You can read the precise instructions here.

Can I have a booking calendar?

Yes, you can have a booking calendar. You can read more about how to enable the version that works best for you in this article

Can I have multiple pricing units in the same listing?

No. Currently, the seller needs to select one of the available pricing units for a listing. For instance, a listing can be “per day” or “per week” but not both.

This also means that if the seller wants to offer different prices for different pricing units, they need to create two separate listings.

Can I change an existing pricing unit?

It is unfortunately not possible to change an existing pricing unit.

Can I have "add ons" for a listing?

Unfortunately, at this time, we do not offer this feature. Add ons in this context refers to having additional items or services that can be added to a listing and purchased simultaneously.
