Guide to editing Custom Landing Page

This article has instructions on how to use the landing page editor and links to articles about each specific section

Updated over a week ago

The landing page is perhaps the most important page of your marketplace. It is the first page that visitors see — sort of like the front door to your house. You have only a few seconds to convince new visitors that they should stay to explore your site. Your landing page needs to be appealing and present your value proposition clearly and enticingly.

In trial, you can build your Custom Landing Page and preview it for yourself. With a Custom Landing Page add-on subscription, you can publish it for all your visitors to see and use the Custom Landing Page editor whenever you want to update your landing page. This article provides an overview of how the landing page editor works and includes links to further articles about editing each separate type of section in the editor.

Landing page sections

The landing page is composed of different sections. Each section is independent of the other. This means that sections can be added, edited, and removed without affecting other sections of the landing page. Each section has a type, and each type has its unique characteristics. There is no limit to the number of sections you can have on your landing page and, if you want, you can add multiple sections of the same type. However, we recommend keeping your landing page simple and appealing.

The available type of sections are:

You can follow the links to articles that tell you more about each different type of section's features and possibilities.

Common editable features of each section

Besides the Hero and the Footer, most other landing page sections have a set of common editable features. For editing these common features, we created a separate article.

Your landing page always has to have a Hero and a Footer section, and they are always the first and the last sections of your landing page. It is not possible to change these sections' order, nor is it possible to add multiple Hero or Footer sections on your landing page. Otherwise, sections can be rearranged.

How to add, rearrange and delete sections

When you open the landing page editor, you find everything you'll need to add, rearrange, edit and delete sections. In this tab, you will see all sections that have been added to the work-in-progress version of your landing page – more on that later. Deleted sections or section types that have not been added at all will not be shown.

If you want to add a new section, simply click on the dropdown menu at the bottom of the list and select the type of section you would like to add.

If you want to change the sections' order, click on the arrows to move them up or down. If the arrow is grey, it means that you cannot move that section into that position. For example, the Hero and Footer sections cannot be moved.

If you want to edit a section, click on the pencil icon next to it.

If you want to delete a section, click on the x mark next to the edit icon. Be careful: this action cannot be undone.

Preview and release a new version of your landing page

It is always a good idea to preview changes before setting your landing page live. To do this, click the "Preview landing page" button. This will take you to a preview page where you will be able to see the work-in-progress version of your landing page. You can use this button to check how your landing page will look before releasing it to your users.

If you want to release your landing page, you need to click the "Publish changes" button. When you do this, your latest work-in-progress or preview version will be released. If you have not made any changes to your landing page, you will receive an error message. You cannot release a new version unless at least one change has been made.
