The landing page is perhaps most important page of your marketplace. It is the first page that visitors see—sort of like the front door of your house. You have only a few seconds to convince new visitors that they should explore your site. The page needs to be appealing and your value proposition should be clear and enticing.
If you have a Custom Landing Page add-on subscription you are able to use the Custom Landing Page editor whenever you want to update the way your landing page looks. This article provides and overview of how the landing page editor works. It also includes links to other articles about how to edit each section in the editor.
Landing page sections
The landing page is composed by different sections. Each section is independent from each other. This means that each can be added, edited and removed without affecting other sections of the landing page. Each section has a type and each type of section has its unique characteristics. There is no limit to the number of sections that you can have in the landing page and, if you want, you can add multiple sections of the same type; but we recommend to keep the landing page simple and appealing.
The available type of sections are:
- Info - one column
- Info - two columns
- Info - three columns
You can follow the links to the article of the section to find out more about the features and possibilities that each has.
Common editable features of each section
Besides the Hero and the Footer, most other sections of the landing page have a set of common editable features. We created an article on how to edit those common features.
Hero and Footer sections
Your landing page always has to have a Hero and a Footer section and they are always the first and the last sections of your landing page, respectively. It is not possible to change the order of these sections, nor is it possible to add multiple Hero or Footer sections in your landing page.
How to add, rearrange and delete sections
In the main tab of the landing page editor there is everything you need to add, rearrange, edit and delete sections. In this tab, you will see all the sections that have been added to the newest work in progress version of your landing page - more on that later. It is important to note, that only the current sections will be shown, if you haven't yet added a section or have deleted one previously, the section will not be shown.
If you want to add a new section, simply click on the dropdown menu on the bottom of list and select the type of section that you would like to add.
If you want to change the order of the sections click on the arrows to move them up and down. If the arrow is grey, it means that you cannot move the section into that position, i.e. the Hero and Footer sections cannot be moved. If you want to edit a section click on the pencil icon next to each section. If you want to delete a section, click on the x mark next to the edit icon. Be careful, this operation cannot be undone.
Preview and release a new version of your landing page
It is always a good idea to preview changes done to your landing page. In order to do this, you can click the "Preview landing page" button. This will take you to a specific preview page where you will be able to see the work in progress version of your landing page. You can use this button in order to see how your landing page would look like before releasing it to your users.
If you want to release your landing page, you need to click the "Set live" button. When you do this your latest work in progress or preview version will be released. If you have not made any changes to your landing page, you will receive an error message. You cannot release a new version unless there is some change to release.
