Follow these instructions to set up your own domain for your marketplace when using OVH as your registrar. You will need to configure your DNS records and make your domain name point to Sharetribe servers. Note that it may take up to 48 hours before these changes work across the internet.

After your DNS settings have been updated, visit the "General / Domain" page on your Admin panel to check them and start using your custom domain.

Please note that the following instructions only apply to marketplaces under a Pro or above subscription.

Instructions for a www subdomain

Follow these instructions to set up your marketplace at a domain like http://www.mymarketplacedomain.com. If you want to use another subdomain (like http://marketplace.mydomain.com), jump down a bit for instructions on how to use other subdomains.

Open your OVH DNS settings

  1. Log in to the "OVH Manager". The address depends on your country.

  2. Select your domain.

  3. Open the "DNS zone" tab.

Configure the DNS records for the www address

  1. Look over the existing "A" records.

  2. If an "A" record exists where "Domain" is set to "www.mymarketplace.com.", edit it and set "Target" to "52.202.58.6" or "52.202.50.54" (pick the one you prefer!).

  3. If such a record doesn't exist, click on "Add an entry". From the Type of DNS record list, select "A". Fill in the following fields: "Sub-domain" must be "www.mymarketplace.com.", "TTL" to "Custom" then "600", "Target" to "52.202.58.6" or "52.202.50.54" (pick the one you prefer!).

  4. Click "Next", then "Confirm".

  5. Make sure that all changes have been saved.

Configure the DNS records for the root domain

It's also important to redirect requests sent to your root domain (without "www", i.e., "domain.com").

  1. Look over the existing "A" records.

  2. If an "A" record exists where "Domain" is set to "mymarketplace.com.", edit it and set "Target" to "52.202.58.6" or "52.202.50.54" (pick the one you prefer!).

  3. If such a record doesn't exist, click on "Add an entry". From the Type of DNS record list, select "A". Fill in the following fields: "Sub-domain" must be empty, "TTL" to "Custom" then "600", "Target" to "52.202.58.6" or "52.202.50.54" (pick the one you prefer!).

  4. Click "Next", then "Confirm".

  5. Make sure that all changes have been saved.

Instructions for other subdomains

If you want to set up your marketplace at a subdomain like http://market.mydomain.com (as opposed to http://www.mymarketplace.com), follow these instructions.

Open your OVH DNS settings

  1. Log in to the "OVH Manager". The address depends on your country.

  2. Select your domain.

  3. Open the "DNS zone" tab.

Configure the DNS records for your subdomain

  1. Look over the existing "CNAME" records.

  2. If a "CNAME" record exists where "Domain" is set to "subdomain.mymarketplace.com.", edit it and set "Target" to "proxy.sharetribe.com." (note the dot at the end!).

  3. If such a record doesn't exist, click on "Add an entry". From the Type of DNS record list, select "CNAME". Fill in the following fields: "Sub-domain" to your desired subdomain, "TTL" to "Custom" then "600", "Target" to "proxy.sharetribe.com." (note the dot at the end!).

  4. Click "Next", then "Confirm".

  5. Make sure that all changes have been saved.

After your DNS settings have been updated, visit the "General / Domain" page on your Admin panel to check them and start using your custom domain.
